Cabaret – Cadiam Set List

June 24, 2008

Hello!

I’ve finalised my set for the Cabaret next week and for some reason thought I’d post the set list. This really serves no other purpose other than to point out the tracks dotted throughout the set that have been used one way or another in the radio shows.

1. No Escape (featured in episode two)
2. Checkers (featured in episode four)
3. Bridge
4. Nasmicplan
5. Bynari
6. Lakewood Trinsic
7. To the 16th
8. Dytal
9. The Cupboard
10. Cascai
11. Quench Acid (Bernard’s ring tone in episode one)
12. When Map Night Lap
13. Bambi/Paper Cup (featured in episode five)

Also, here’s a pic of what my controller looks like. Bear witness to the most appalling handwriting! In addition, note the painful usage of low-quality masking tape, the horror!

Rehearsal Spaces

June 21, 2008

Hello!

JP Cooper here, this is just a quick little post (a new and longer one from me is coming shortly) to show you one of the stranger places that we rehearse. Yep, thats right we’re strapped for cash cause of the expense of an Ed Fest show and found that rehearsing in our local church was both cheap and strangely inspiring. I myself am not a religious person, but I must thank religion for building such a wonderful environment!

Here’s the pics . . .

We rehearsed in the area right at the end,an audience of pews. They seemed impressed

If you know James at all then this is the perfect serving suggestion for him

Character Study 1 – Bernard

June 21, 2008

Evening all!

Here’s the first video in a series of character studies for the Silence in C Minor show. Every now and then we’ll be bringing you little snippets of Jon and James in character to see how the whole thing progresses over the next few months. First up it’s everyone’s favourite Brummie of a thousand brothers, Bernard…

Rehearsal Update

June 19, 2008

Hey guys,

Last night’s rehearsal was pretty good, some really wonderful progress on the blocking. The first half of the show is shaping up nicely, so to celebrate here are some slightly more interesting photos of the night.

Jon looks at a chair, chair does not respond.

*

Honour looks at Jon (off-camera), James sort of looks at camera from a distance.

*

Jon looks at James, James does wise thing and looks at script.

*

Nice, huh? It’s all black and white, how wonderfully trendy. We’ve also started doing work on some of the characterization by recording segments of Jon and James in character and letting them see how it all looks physically. The up-side to this is that we’ll have various little snippets of these character studies, all of which will be (badly) edited and posted here and there between now and Edinburgh.

Silence in C Minor as illustrated by someone else

June 17, 2008

Many thanks to Joel Cooper, James’ girlfriend’s sister’s boyfriend (I think that’s only two degrees of separation from you, dear reader), who did a little piece of fan art inspired by Silence in C Minor. Joel is super-talented, like some sort of wizard, so head on over to his site to see examples of his amazing work!

Rehearsal video for live set

June 16, 2008

Hey guys, as mentioned previously I did a little video as a taster for the cabaret… Enjoy!

Cabaret Prep

June 16, 2008

The acts along with the running order have now been finalised which leaves me wondering exactly what I’m going to be doing for my bit. The live set of my music which was initially a test to see whether I could do it using my existing gear is now looking to be the final thing.

I might rehearse it a bit to make sure I don’t end up looking like an absolute idiot. All my mild panic over all the other acts and the logistics has managed to mask that after all that’s been sorted I still have to do a set on the night. Tried making a small video for this update but thanks to network problems this will have to wait a day or so, never mind!
